Improvement of Student Standard

The Union of European Federalists of Macedonia in collaboration with the Institute for Sustainable Governance Macedonia 2.0, as part of the project “Improvement of the Student Standard” supported by NDI North Macedonia has organized focus groups for examining the attitudes and opinions of Macedonian students.

The focus groups were implemented with an aim of qualitatively examining the attitudes and opinions of students about the existing student and youth policies in North Macedonia, as well as their satisfaction, i.e. dissatisfaction with the current conditions in the institutions that manage the student standard. In this regard, there were four focus groups conducted, with a total of 32 respondents, eight per group. The groups were divided into two categories: focus groups for examining the effects on students that receive state aid while studying and focus groups for examining attitudes and opinions of students towards the current conditions in the student institutions – student dormitories. The groups from the first category were divided into two subcategories: respondents, i.e. students using state aid while studying, and students not using state aid while studying. The groups in the second category were divided into two subcategories: respondents living in dormitories and respondents not living in dormitories. An open discussion method was used among the respondents during the implementation of the focus groups. The guidelines in the discussion, as well as its quality, were moderated by a facilitator.
